Hello and thank you for taking the time to check out the Positive Energy Coffee GoFundMe! The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money for new roasting equipment and the Positive Energy Coffee website launch.
Roasting small batch, made-to-order coffee for friends and family has been a growing passion of mine for the past two years. I began home roasting simply to explore a curiosity of mine and to enjoy fresh coffee all the time. What started as a hobby now warms mugs up and down the East Coast through friendly word of mouth marketing. My motto is "Positivity to the People," and because the people have enjoyed P.E. Coffee, I strive to keep everyone excited and quality high.
The mission for P.E. Coffee is to provide beans of stellar quality, home roasted to your own preference. The key aspect setting P.E. Coffee apart from other roasters is that your coffee is your choice. That is, you have the ability to select your single origin or blend option as well as the desired roasting level (light, medium, dark, or somewhere in between). As a result, each P.E. Coffee bag is custom roasted in one small batch and tremendous emphasis is placed on quality control. With my current roasting set up -- a Stovetop Popper (which is basically a heavily modified popcorn roaster) -- high quality is possible but consistency and replicability are difficult. In addition, the labor is very demanding. I physically turn the beans 100 times per minute on each 10-15 minute batch...
Enter Aillio’s Bullet R1 (link below), a coffee roaster that will elevate P.E. Coffee’s quality, consistency, and efficiency. The R1 is an electrically powered drum roaster capable of roasting up to 1kg of coffee per roast (about 2 P.E. bags). The R1 is highly responsive to user input, granting precise control over the rotating drum speed (no more manual cranking), fan speed, and heating power during each roast. The R1 also includes a computer software package that allows for precise control and monitoring of each roast in real time. With the R1 it is possible to take samples mid-roast using the "tryer," sneak a peek at the beans through the sight glass, or obsessively monitor the numbers on the computer control screen. Roast profiles can be saved and shared with others in the global community, increasing quality and maximizing consistency. Ultimately, the final cup of coffee will taste that much better!
As my passion project expands, it is important that attention to detail and quality are not compromised. Aillio's Bullet R1 roaster is one way to increase the quality control while scaling the positivity to more people.
