Greetings, my friends!
After some deep thought, I have decided to ask for your assistance in the creation of the People’s Math Front. The basic idea of this project is to fund a small band of dedicated researchers to uncover, analyze, compile, & fact-check the numbers behind the mainstream-media’s narratives about the 2016 U.S. election cycle.
This will allow me -- John Laurits, also known as “the math guy” -- to continue writing the Math Vs. Media articles
, but at a faster pace & with a greater ability to expose the misinformation and misleading coverage of the major news outlets. Why I Believe the People's Math Front is Needed
The need for this People’s Math Front became clear to me after writing about the real Oregon democratic primary results.
I was able to report the most accurate & updated results because a friend & I spent all day combing through the counties’ numbers
(something that the Associated Press, apparently, had no interest in doing). Afterward, I received at least about a hundred requests to write similar articles on other states’ elections results -- this is something that I would love to do but I simply cannot compile that much research on my own
That is why I am asking for 1,200$
-- to create the People’s Math Front, by hiring two dedicated researchers at $10/hour. $1,200 would fund up to six hours of research per day (3 hours per researcher), five days a week, for one month, because...
6 hours x $10 = $60
$60 x 20 weekdays = $1,200I have already spoken with several very intelligent acquaintances who are between jobs and are willing to begin working with me immediately.
I, of course, have already begun -- but, with these funds, I could not only continue writing, but my output could be turbo-charged with the assistance of the People’s Math Front.
Because of the moment-to-moment, ongoing nature of the presidential primaries and my coverage of them, the People’s Math Front will begin operating as soon as we receive our first donation
and continue so long as we are funded. The last thing that I’ll say about it is that, of course, you should donate to Bernie Sanders’ campaign first & foremost!
After having done that, please consider funding our work to undermine and replace the bought-and-paid-for corporate media.
As I’ve said before, we are the media, now.
Thanks, for reading.In solidarity,John Laurits #SeeYouInPhilly

-- these are the kinds of articles that the People's Math Front will be helping to create.
