Cranial Band Medical Help - Paisley
Hello friends and family!
My baby girl Paisley and I need your help. Normally this isn't something I would feel comfortable in asking, but there is time urgency in obtaining a medical treatment for Paisley to prevent worsening of her condition.
The effectiveness of the treatment is influenced by timing of when the baby’s skull bones begin to fuse as part of normal child development.
Paisley’s insurance has denied the claim to pay for this treatment – which is why I am appealing for additional help from you to promptly be able to get her the treatment she needs.
The treatment involves use of what is called a DOC Band – it’s a medical device generically known as a cranial orthosis.
A cranial orthosis is used to treat a medical condition known as deformational plagiocephaly (abnormal head shape in infants). The band is intended to apply pressure to the prominent regions of an infant's cranium and improve cranial symmetry and/or shape.
Paisley’s type of plagiocephaly is called brachycephaly; the back of her head is very flat and is causing her skull to bulge out above her ears and some facial asymmetry.
If this isn't treated, it's possible that glasses, helmets and hats won't fit properly in the future. Her condition is severe but not severe enough for surgery and of course, insurance won't help cover the cranial band unless it's post-operative.
Therefore, we are asking from the bottom of our hearts
for your support with funding Paisley’s cranial Band. Any little bit will help and we will be forever grateful for every single contribution.
If you have any questions, concerns, or anything at all, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you so much in advance,
Corine and Paisley
