Dean DuVall had a goal in December 2016 to help children in the area who were going to have a very lean Christmas, if they got a Christmas at all. He began looking for someone to help him. Dean made some phone calls gaining donors to support his vision, and found local community partners who confidentially identified children in the area needing Christmas support.
Through donations received the community partners and volunteers bought gifts from the children lists and wrapped them to be delivered. The local law enforcement generously donated their time, helping OCL deliver presents on Christmas Eve to over 100 children in Park County. With the success of his idea, Dean decided to start a non-profit organization to deliver gifts every year.
Currently Operation Christmas Lights has expanded to include the counties of Beaverhead, and Park with the hope of eventually expanding OCL state wide. However, with this expansion we also need to increase our pool of donors and get more communities involved.
