Thanks for the Memories Mark!

Don protégé
Mark Raymond Hallisey, age 41, passed away Sunday evening, August 20, 2017.  Everyone who knew Mark knew that he was a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one.  He has been described as “charismatic”, “bigger-than-life”, “brother to all”, “life of the party.”  Friends and family have said that no one ever had more fun than Mark, that there was never a dull moment when Mark was around, that he always could make people laugh, that his smile was the best, and that he was an inspiration.  Mark was a “real deal, a rare find,” “great friend,” “one of a kind.”  We all remember how easy it was to get along with Mark, his laugh and smile, and that good-hearted orneriness!  He had a big heart and a warm welcome with genuine concern for everyone he met.  Mark was “dang loveable!”  He would drop anything to help a friend and was a blessing to everyone he knew.

To know Mark was to love him, even with his constant pranks and jabs, we still loved him.  There are few people who can get by with calling their friend “fatty” only to have the friend reply by calling him “ears!”  (But Oh, how we all loved those ears!)  Mark loved the good-natured banter and he had a magical way of pulling you into his game before you even realized you were playing!  But behind all of that talk was nothing but love.  He deeply loved his friends and family and truly would give all that he had to help anyone at any time.

Above all, he loved his two sons, Mason and Max, with a love that was deep and meaningful.  He wanted nothing more than to help them grow and develop into honorable men who can one day lead their own children to adulthood.  He sought to teach them the value of hard work and cheerful service to others.  He often took them to his job sites to teach them not only the skills of construction and carpentry, but more importantly the lessons of responsibility and pride in workmanship.  If you had a conversation with Mark, you likely heard the updates of how the boys were doing in school, their recent accomplishments in soccer, wrestling, or football, and most likely some funny story about their lives as teenagers.  Mark loved his sons with all of his heart and soul and was proud to say so.

As we all remember the bigness of Mark, so many friends and family are asking how they can help.  Rather than asking for flowers and plants that are beautiful in the moment, his family would like to ask for a more enduring gift.  We are asking for your financial help with his final expenses and for the continuing support of his sons.  Mark had not yet planned for his own funeral, and he had not arranged for life insurance, so your donations will greatly help to offset the cost of his burial.  Should he be blessed with more donations than the cost of the funeral, any remaining gifts will go directly to his teenage boys.

Services for Mark will be held at the Maple Hill Funeral Home.

·         Visitation:  Sunday, August 27, 2017, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

·         Funeral:  Monday, August 28, 2017, 10:00 AM.

Thank you for your love and friendship to Mark during his short time with us.  He truly loved each one of you and felt blessed to call you “friend.”
