Maisoun (Mae) Alias was the most giving person her family and friends knew. She willingly gave to others in need however she was able to. She was extremely selfless and compassionate, which is something we can all learn from. She was also known to be so strong and never give up. Even while she was terminally ill she was genuinely concerned with others and even told people about her mission for the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament in Farmington Hills. She passed away peacefully on a beautiful morning at the age of 54 on February 01, 2016 after battling cancer for two years. The cancer was called Cholangiocarcinoma, which is an incurable bile duct cancer, that around 20,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with each year. She left behind a husband, two sons, a daughter and hundreds of family and friends that deeply loved her. She suffered in unimaginable pain and agony for almost two years.
Many years before she became terminally ill, the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament was Mae Alias' mission. Her mission was to raise as much as she possibly could for the nuns because they live off donations and their building was in horrible condition. She initiated a meeting to help raise money for the nuns. When people visited her at the hospital she mentioned to them how important it was to donate to the nuns. The nuns prayed for her and her family every single day of course. They also visited her and volunteers from Blessed Sacrament brought her the Eucharist every day. More than 20 years ago, her father donated a statue of Mary outside the Monastery. She strongly prayed to this statue when she wanted to have a daughter and she was so happy when her prayers came true. Maisoun, her family and friends are highly devoted to this beautiful Monastery. A few days before she passed she mentioned, "Whenever you want to say a little prayer for me, pass by the Monastery in Farmington Hills." Until her last days she was concerned about the nuns at the Monastery.
The nuns at the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament are constantly praying for everybody in the community, and especially special intentions they are given. Maisoun Alias' mission was influenced by the condition of the Monastery's building. Also, the nuns live solely on the donation of others. The building needs serious renovations. There are about 28-30 nuns who live in this Monastery and don't associate with the outside world. Only about 3-4 nuns communicate with the public. They have an infirmary, which is a medical facility because they do not leave to go to a hospital. This infirmary is in poor condition and needs renovations. They live in tiny 2 feet by 4 feet rooms and have no air condition in the summer. The money donated will go to the daily life of the nuns, the building's renovations, and the medical facility's renovations.
Maisoun Alias is an Angel who has answered many prayers and protected her loved ones and those in need. Pray to this Angel whenever you may need. Besides donating to the Monastery please feel free to visit the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament in Farmington Hills and pray for your intentions. Thank you for taking the time to read this and also thank you for the donations. http://www.opnuns-fh.org
