Katherine needs your help to kick brain cancer's butt!!!!
This amazingly beautiful and talented young woman is struggling with her second bout of brain cancer --a grade 4 glioblastoma. Anyone who has witnessed this terrible disease knows it has to be fought aggressively and with a boxer's furry-- and that's Katherine in a nutshell!
This amazingly beautiful and talented young woman is struggling with her second bout of brain cancer --a grade 4 glioblastoma. Anyone who has witnessed this terrible disease knows it has to be fought aggressively and with a boxer's furry-- and that's Katherine in a nutshell!
She just had surgery at UCLA and is now undergoing chemo treatments.Though she's the first one to help, she is the last one to ask anyone for assistance, but she needs your support to make her battle a success. There are additional appointments, treatments, and trials in Houston, San Francisco, Seattle and elsewhere --much of which insurance doesn't cover. Her family and fiance' are accompanying her, supporting her and nursing her back to health. This requires extended leave from work as well as many days on planes and living in hotels --don't get us started on boarding and watching Sunny!
Katherine is also on leave from her job as a beloved guide at the New Children's Museum in San Diego, where kids flock to hear her read stories and learn about the latest exhibits.
To date Katherine has had 3 surgeries and had tumors removed twice. She has had radiation and two kinds of chemo and the work to keep attacking her cancer continues daily.
Now you need to know a bit about Katherine. She is an amazing friend, daughter, fiance' and artist.
When her first bout with a brain tumor took place three years ago she didn't miss a day of class getting radiation at Dana Farber in Boston while earning her MFA from Tufts/The School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Her amazing art has graced galleries and even museums.
Right now she is being matched up for innovative drug and treatment trials. All the while she continues to have that magical smile, work on her art when she can and plan her dream wedding this summer.
Please help in any way you can -- letters of support, a donation, sketches, advice, prayers, even art supplies. Together we can do the near impossible --and if anyone can do the near impossible it's her-- join us in helping Katherine kick brain cancer's butt!!!!
