Katelynns Kidney Journey
Donation protected
Katelynn received a kidney transplant on December 10, 2013. She currently remains hospitalized at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.
Katelynn suffers from end stage kidney failure due to an E-coli infection that put her into kidney failure in June 2010. She had been put on dialysis initially in 2010 but was able to come off of dialysis on her 2nd birthday due to some kidney function returning. She has been actively placed on the transplant list waiting for a kidney as of April 26, 2013. She began PD dialysis on July 1, 2013 which was for 10 hours each day 7 days a week. We found out on November 28, 2013 that Katelynn is going to receive the gift of life from a living donor a substitute teacher she met on September 12, 2013.
She is a sister of 3 other siblings her father is currently the only source of income and is has exhausted all his paid time off. Katelynn will remain in the hospital for about 7-10 days and must followup with appointments twice a week. If you would like to help support the family with expenses traveling to the hospital (the hospital is a 1 hour and 15 minute drive each way and may have to go a few times per week) and living expenses.
