Kajiado Project

The Kajiado Adventist Educational and Rehabilitation Centre, in Kajiado, Kenya has been in existence since 2000 in Kajiado County at the outskirts of Nairobi City.  In this area children are viewed as economic investments, this has contributed to early marriages with the local community being largely Maasai tribe. Most residents around Kajiado Adventist Educational and Rehabilitation Centre are poor, and often go to bed hungry.  The area lacks adequate infrastructure and educational facilities which has led to the prevalence of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early marriages as early as age 10 to men 3 times their age. There are cases of HIV/AIDS and youth pregnancy, resulting in many children who are either orphaned or are unable to be cared for by their parents.

We, DeJah Fleurancois and Gabriela Rosales,  have been given the opportunity to travel to Kenya on a mission trip in the Summer of 2018 to work with the young women at this mission,-* that have been rescued as a result of the turmoil they’ve faced.  As Sophomores at Ayer Shirley Regional High School we understand the importance of being able experience the joys of childhood and having access to education.  Volunteering is an important part of our families lives and we want to do our part to assist the young ladies in realizing their full potential.

Our goal is to raise money not only to help defray the cost to travel to Kenya but to purchase supplies and much needed personal items for the young women at the Rehabilitation center.
