In Memory of Joyce Walker
Greetings from a humble heart. My name is Joyce Adams. I am seeking financial support in the loving memory of my courageous aunt, Joyce Walker, who gained her wings on January 8, 2015. She dedicated her life in the field of Education for 33 years in the DC Public School system as a Business Manager for Hearst Elementary School. However, for those that knew her she was so much more..., mother, teacher, nurse, substitute, administrator, mentor, counselor, security guard, secretary, and attendance clerk. Her lists of duties were endless. She was often called "Mother Hearst," and was highly regarded as the heartbeat and the rock of her school community. What many do not realize about her honorable service, is that she did not choose to leave in August 2014 to enjoy a life of retirement as many have thought, but sadly she was released from the DCPS system, as a result of reduction in force. 33 years of sacrifice , superior work ethic, and pure love released instantly without benefits . This painful separation from Hearst and several health issues were ultimately too much for her to overcome. I am asking all educators, parents, teachers, friends, coworkers, former students and caring donors to help me raise the funds needed to make final arrangements for her homegoing services. With your help, we can give her the celebration she so deserved here on Earth. All funds will go to support her service, and any additional funds raised passed our goal will be given to her only son, Bruce Cambosos, who was her primary caretaker.
With much love and a grateful spirit,
Joyce Walker Adams
