A Service Dog for Jeremiah's birthday!
Donation protected
This is Jeremiah Gibbs. He is an exuberant, creative four
year old boy with T.A.R syndrome. He loves to eat popcorn and spend
quality time with his grand papa. He needs occasional blood platelet
transfusions, has no arms, multiple leg deformities and fused kidneys.
For the most part he has found his own innovative solutions to the
simple daily tasks such as eating, brushing teeth, getting around the
house and interacting with friends at pre-school. But being outside and
keeping up is difficult as he cannot walk. We were recently told by
Shriners Orthopedic surgeons that there is little they can do for him in
the way of surgery. Because of this we're even more eager to move along
the process of getting a service dog! In April of this year we had a party with a purpose! We raised 10,000 dollars for a K4-50 Permobile power chair, van and lift. This gives him more independence on the playground and in the
community. Jeremiah's disability has not defined him thus far.... what
it has defined is the immeasurable amounts of loving support and
generosity our community is capable of. We need to raise funds to train a service dog with Katie Ricks out of Aburn, Wa. A service dog will help Jeremiah to navigate the world with more balance and safety, assist with his lack of reach and most importantly help to sooth and comfort in times of frustration and anxiety. Jeremiah is so grateful for all the friends we meet and who
help out along the way. He gives back with his courageous spirit,
inspiring smile and indomitable will. All funds go directly to Jeremiah's special needs trust and are used to better his quality of life! Items such as special toilets, dressing sticks, and other adaptive equipment are needed. The cost of the dog will be about 10 grand. Teaching Jeremiah to use a dog for assistance over the next few months will be about $70 a week. Jeremiah has touched the heart of many, as you have now and forever touched ours. Thank you, Kindly!
