My name is Caroline, and I’m writing this with a mother’s heart that is both broken and full of faith.
My son Stevie is only 39 years old — a devoted father of eight beautiful children: six Indigenous, including two with autism, and two wonderful stepchildren who love him as their own.
He’s the dad who never missed a birthday swim — a tradition he shared every year with his daughter.
She’s still waiting for that swim.
Now, Stevie is in the fight of his life — and we are doing everything we can to bring him home.
What Happened
On August 30 2025, Stevie suffered a sudden cardiac arrest that led to multiple-organ failure.
He was placed on full life support while doctors worked around the clock to save him.
By God’s grace, his organs have stabilized and his kidneys are improving — real signs of strength and recovery.
Although progress is happening, the medical team has begun difficult discussions about next steps.
We believe it’s too soon — because Stevie’s body is healing and responding.
We have obtained a court injunction to ensure he remains on life support while his recovery continues.
Many people don’t realize that, in Canada, hospitals often hold that authority, and families must go through the courts simply to keep treatment going.
Now our focus is on moving Stevie to a hospital in the United States that can continue the advanced neurological and rehabilitation care he needs.
Because Stevie is both Canadian and American, he’s one of the rare few blessed with access to specialized cross-border care — and we’re determined to give him that chance.
U.S. specialists who reviewed his case have said that with access to these therapies, Stevie may have a meaningful opportunity to regain more strength and function.
Why We Need Help
While we are deeply grateful for Canada’s healthcare system, international transfers and advanced rehabilitation programs are not covered under public healthcare. Families must pay privately.
The estimated cost of Stevie’s critical-care air-ambulance transfer and hospital intake is $75 000 – $100 000 USD, which includes:
Air-ambulance transport with full life-support systems
An ICU-level medical team to accompany him
Hospital intake and stabilization at a U.S. facility specializing in neurological and organ recovery
Every hour matters. Each day we wait risks losing momentum in his healing.
Stevie’s eight children are praying for their dad to come home — alive, present, and able to hold them again.
