Joseph's Cancer: A Pain in the Ass
Donativo protegido
Here's the deal. Joseph has advanced aggressive metastatic prostate cancer. That means it has spread into the lymph nodes. It totally sucks, and we are treating it aggressively. Cancer wants a fight? We'll give it a fight.
If you are a friend of ours, then you know the last thing Joe wants is to ask for help. And yet, begrudgingly, here we are.
If you've found your way here through a friend, and you don't know us, well first—thank you. Second, Joe is dealing with post-operative healing and piles of treatments. The medical expenses are intense, and he won't be able to work for awhile so living expenses are a strain as well. On top of everything else, we are moving after [not winning] a 5 1/2 year-long battle with our landlords of a rent-stabilized apartment we've been in for 24 years. Moving RIGHT NOW, within days of his surgery.
So yeah, we really can use any help you're able to give. Joseph needs to focus on his recovery, and I need to focus on managing the rest and caring for him.
Here's a little about Joseph O'Neill—he may have served you a drink or two at Marie's Crisis in the West Village. He's also a self-taught photographer, and in the last few years, his startlingly beautiful work has been featured in galleries all over Manhattan, around the country, and the globe. Some of his magnificent work will be hanging soon over at Marie's, available for purchase. That's one way to help. You can check out his art here (a few links); another way to support: http://exhibitionnest.com/artist-portfolio/537/joseph-oneill/, http://www.nyc.gallery/profile/Joseph, https://joeiamone.see.me, http://www.jotog.nyc/ Joseph is a gruff grumbly hilarious Fozzie bear, and the love of my life. So I really want to see this all turn out great.
Please give what you're able, and check here for updates. We both thank our friends, our community, so, so much. It really has been humbling; the outpouring of support from the start of this horrible news. We feel very fortunate to have surrounded ourselves with such a lovely crazy fabulous extended group we call family . Thank you xoXo Suzanne and Joe
