Friend Finder Proms 2018
Donation protected
Last year I had a dream to put on a Prom for amazing young people around the country who couldnt attend their own school prom as they were too sick or disabled. After an appearance on BBC Breakfast and a video about y life went viral, kind hearted people from around the world donated their hard earned money and I raised the £15,000 needed to put on the Prom.
On 2nd June 2017 I held the first ever Friend Finder Prom and 150 young people and their carers came to The Portsmouth Guildhall for, in their own word, The night of their life. It was an unbelieveable success.
I set my Friend Finder Charity up to help disabled and sick children come together to make friends. I was diagnosed with a Brain tumour when I was 17 months old. 15 years later I have had 13 brain surgeries amongst other operations. I have daily sezuries and a mechanical pump inside my brain that keeps me alive.
My life left me feeing isolated and alone which is why I founded Friend Finder and I have now helped hundreds of chidren around the world make friends.
Since the success of this years Friend Finder Prom I have had messages from across the world asking me to put on a Prom where they live so in 2018 I have decided to hold 2 Proms!
The First in June 2018 in Portsmouth For all the young people in the South of England
The Second in July in Birmingham for all the amazing young people from Birmingham to Scotland
My dream is to keep creating Proms in as many places as possible so al the amazing young people who have challenging lives like me get to have fun and make friends.
The funding GOal for 2 Proms next year is £50,000 as a lot of the children will need an over night stay to cope with the travelling
Please help me and Friend Finder Offical to put on these Proms and create a night full of fun, friends, laughter and memories for children and young people who normally feel so isolated and alone
Tosee more about last years Prom. A documentary about is is available to watch on BBC IPlayer from the evenng of 14th November CBBC - My LIfe My Big Prom
Please take a look at our website and nominate a deserving young person now for the Proms
Thank you!! From Lewis Hine
