Edward P. McAvoy Scholarship

Edward P. McAvoy Scholarship was established  last year for three deserving Ward Melville Seniors. This year's award will take place June 12, 2019 at the Senior Awards Night at Ward Melville. Ed McAvoy was a father to five children who all graduated from Ward Melville High School. He has twelve grandchildren, nine of which will graduate from Ward Melville as well.

Ed lived in the Three Village community for fifty years and touched so many lives with his positive sense of humor. He was active in the Stony Brook Fire Department, Meals on Wheels, St. James Soup Kitchen and the Stony Brook Yacht Club. Ed passed away on 1/31/18 and we wanted to honor his memory with a memorial scholarship to a student(s) that displays these attributes which we think embodies our father's most enduring characteristics.

Persistance in a goal
Resilience in the face of adversity
Sense of humor through it all

We appreciate your support and keeping our father's memory alive through this scholarship. We will be painting rocks again this year for donations. If you would like a specific rock, i.e. a favorite quote, image or school logo, we can make them to order.
