Dawn Schuller Bailey Proton Therapy
Donation protected
Last year, Dawn was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Since then, she has had a mastectomy and a full course of chemotherapy.
Dawn, and her doctors, feel her best course for follow on care is Proton Therapy, as it isolates the particular affected area for radiation, versus the traditional, more widespread radiation which can more adversely affect quality and quantity of life. Put plainly, it is not nearly as hard on the body. A more detailed rational for this treatment is available here.
Dawn's request for Proton Therapy has been denied by her insurance provider, despite a formalized appeal. The personal payment option of $57,000 is financially prohibative. UNLESS, a lot of us work together to help raise the funding. UNLESS a lot of us work really hard and give the same gift we would like to receive if standing in Dawn's place. UNLESS, Dawn's friends, family, coworkers, community, and fellow 12's are half as wild about reckless giving as she is. UNLESS many of us realize we have a vested interest in her continued supportive friendship, public service, and private volunteer efforts.
This campaign will run through Valentines day so we have a chance to show Dawn, her husband Mike, and her three children A LOT OF LOVE! It is set as an 'all or nothing' campaign, so all funds will revert- to the accounts from which they were pledged- if it is not fully funded. UNLESS we make it to our goal!
Dawn has spent her career energies in social services advocating for at risk children, and is a supportive wife to an officer of the peace. We would like for her own children, Braden, Elianna, and Lilly to know we are advocating for the long life and strong health of their mother, and support her, as members of an improved community due to her ongoing efforts.
Besides--- We want her back to her zesty self again.
