Cathal Clooney was a beloved member of Spink Comhaltas, who passed away in 2021 from complications following spinal surgery. He was 15 when he died.

A beloved son, brother and friend, Cathal continues to be missed every day. A passionate musician, he played the accordion, melodeon, tin whistle, and was starting to learn the pipes at his death.

To honour Cathal's memory, Spink Comhaltas are holding a charity concert on 2 March 2024 in Abbeyleix. This will feature the very best of traditional Irish music. All funds raised through this GoFundMe page as well as funds raised on the night at the concert will go directly to the charity nominated by his parents - Jack & Jill Foundation, with a donation also going to fund research into Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

Spink Comhaltas are funding the hosting and organisation of the concert. A public presentation of a cheque for all funds raised will be posted on the branch web-site (www.spinkcomhaltas.ie) and facebook page when the event is over.
