Hi, my name is Megan, and I’m raising funds to help my sweet rescue dog Butters recover from a painful and life-altering injury. In his previous home he was kenneled 20 hours a day which left him with weakened legs, and shortly after we brought him in, we realized his CCL was torn.
Originally, we were preparing for surgery on one torn CCL (cranial cruciate ligament — the dog version of an ACL). We had started this fundraiser to help cover the cost of that procedure after Butters started limping and struggling to walk.
But just a few days ago, before we could even get to surgery, Butters took a hard fall in our home and began limping on his other leg — his “good” leg. We were praying it was a sprain or strain.
We had his surgery consult, and the news was heartbreaking:
Butters has now torn both of his CCLs.
One is a complete tear, and the other is partially torn and weakening quickly.
He’s in visible pain, struggling to get up or walk, and can’t put weight on either hind leg without support. The vets have confirmed he will need surgical intervention on both knees to recover and live a normal life again.
We are doing everything we can — from giving prescribed meds and limiting movement, to contacting nonprofits for aid — but the cost of bilateral CCL surgery is more than we ever imagined. This new diagnosis means we must update our funding goal to reflect the added cost and post-op care Butters will now need.

Why This Matters:
Butters isn’t just a dog — he’s family. He was rescued from a neglectful situation and has become a deeply loved part of our lives. Despite everything, he’s gentle, loyal, and full of heart.
Seeing him unable to walk, unable to play, and visibly hurting is beyond heartbreaking. We just want to give him his legs — and his life — back.

How You Can Help:
• Donate, if you’re able — every single dollar counts
• Share this with your friends, family, or on social media
• Send us resources or nonprofit contacts if you know of any
• Keep Butters in your thoughts — we believe in healing, and we’re not giving up
We’ll keep updating this page as we hear back from nonprofits and finalize a surgery plan.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us give Butters the chance he deserves to heal.
With love and gratitude,
Butters and family
