After the Revolution: The Sequel

My novel, After the Revolution, which is being released three chapters per week and available as a free epub at ATRBook.com. It's also being released as a podcast.

I would like to write a sequel. I also have another book I'd like to write- fantasy instead of science fiction. I could attempt to find a publisher, I've done that before, and was paid good money to write my nonfiction book 'A Brief History of Vice'. But publishers can be a hassle, and they also generally won't let you give away your book for free.

I would like my novels to be free. When I was a kid we didn't have a lot of money, certainly not enough for all the books I wanted to read. The local library didn't include a lot of the sci-fi and fantasy books I loved to read. Luckily, my uncle worked at Barnes & Noble, and he brought back boxes of unsold 'strip' copies (books with the covers removed so they can't be resold) every week. I can't give everyone an uncle who works at a bookstore, but I can give away my books for free.

That said, if I want to (eventually) write fiction full time for a living, I need to make money. At the moment I live very comfortably making podcasts, but I don't want to do that forever. So here's the deal: if you're short on money, don't give me anything. Read the book for free. Share it with your friends. Please.

If you've got $10-20 bucks, and you want me to write more fiction, donate for the sequel. If you want to donate more, like if you're some crazy rich person or something, I can't stop you. But in my head $10 bucks is 1 book, $20 bucks is 1 book and 1 audio book. If you donate, you're paying for me to write the book AND for other people to have free books.

I don't know if this will work, but it's worth trying. My hope is that it does, and other authors copy me, and maybe more free books exist on the Internet. That would be pretty rad.
