Zeus's Medical Fund

It all happened so suddenly Friday night (Jan. 26th), Zeus was running around like his usual self during the day around 3 pm.  Then out of nowhere, I noticed he wasn't acting like normal, something just seemed off.  When we got home he was walking really slowly and looked really lethargic.  Then as the night went on, I heard him trying to vomit around 4 am (Saturday) and after he got it out of his system he could barely walk or keep his balance.  So this was a red flag and a cause for concern, but I tried to stay positive and figured it would pass.

I was wrong - that morning, when I woke myself up (usually Zeus is my alarm clock) I saw that Zeus was still laying down and he did not seem excited about going outside.  And when we finally got outside, it looked like he was urinating blood, so I knew that something was definitely wrong.  I rushed him to our local animal hospital (Bramer Animal Hospital) as quick as possible.  They emphasized that if I had not responded as quickly as I did, that Zeus would have likely passed away later that day.

Zeus has been diagnosed with IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia). It is a deadly and rare disease and completely took me by surprise. The mortality rate of this disease is 70-80%, but thankfully there are treatments that increase the possibility of recovery.

So, Saturday (Jan. 27th) I took him to the emergency clinic in Skokie, IL. Which cost $3,000 for 1 day of hospitalization and no blood transfusion.  When I picked him up, he seemed better but still not normal.  Later that night, he declined again and I had to take him back to the vet.  The vet urged me to take Zeus to a specialist and get a blood transfusion.  So this is where we are at right now.  We found a veterinary specialty center in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, and Zeus is being treated there as of today.

The treatments are definitely expensive and outside of me and my family's budget.  The funds raised will be put towards all of Zeus's medical treatments and medicine.  As of now, the low estimate of the medical bill is up to $5500 (estimate for 2-days) for hospitalization, blood transfusions, IVs, and multiple medications.

I hate having to ask, but this is all overwhelming and asking for help is definitely necessary.  The funds will be needed by February 2nd, 2018 to close out the medical bill.  Anything that you can contribute will be greatly appreciated! Whether it be $50 or $1!  If you could share the link to this campaign, that would be awesome as well!  Help me get my baby boy back to good health! Thank you in advance! <3

*As you can tell, Zeus is my right-hand man and accompanies me everywhere, literally everywhere, even to my athletic facility (don't tell my coach haha).  So, it is of utmost importance to me that I get him the best possible chance to overcome this sickness and get back on his feet.
