My name is Amber Matos, and my journey has been one of faith, perseverance, and transformation. At 16 years old, I became a single mother and made the difficult decision to leave high school. My life started out with challenges that could have easily defined my future—but through God’s grace, determination, and love for my children, I turned my struggles into strength.
Today, I am a 30-year-old devoted wife and mother of two, proudly finishing my Master of Social Work (MSW) at Rutgers University. I previously graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Rutgers and was accepted into the Advanced Standing MSW Program—an accelerated track for students who’ve demonstrated academic excellence—with a 3.8 GPA.
Throughout my studies, I’ve served as Vice President of the Social Work Honor Society, participated on the Social Work Board Committee, and was blessed to earn a fully funded study abroad experience in Belize to explore international social work practices. Every step has deepened my commitment to helping others—especially young mothers, struggling families, and those facing hardships like the ones I’ve overcome.
Now, with only one semester left before graduating in May 2026, I’ve hit an unexpected roadblock. I’ve been placed on a financial hold due to an unpaid tuition balance of $12,500, which is preventing me from registering for my final classes.
I am humbly asking for your help to cross this final finish line. Your support will not only allow me to complete my degree—it will help me step into my calling as a licensed social worker, where I can give back to others with the same compassion, faith, and hope that got me here.
