Hit & Run -Road to Recovery

Danika was walking home from a job interview on Friday evening, excited that she had been given the job on the spot and was to start today!

She is 20 years old and was also excited for all the Christmas upcoming fun!

The reason she was walking was because her car was in the shop needing repairs of approx $2000 which is why she was so excited to land this fulltime job as she also has monthly bills to pay and is starting college courses.

She was dressed warm with her Christmas sweater on and thought she would save the cab fare and have a nice evening walk home.

As she was walking she was struck by a truck and she ended up facedown in the snow bleeding from her head.

This man DID NOT STOP but sped off and left her there on the side of the road.

Thankfully, a woman who saw what happened stopped and helped and called 911.

Danika was rushed by ambulance to Civic Trauma Unit in Ottawa as paramedics were sure she had a skull fracture.

To the doctor's surprise, amazingly they didn't find a skull fracture... We are all so grateful for this.

However... Danika has a very long road to recovery from many other injuries due to the impact trauma and will not be able to work for a long time.

She now has no income to pay for her car repairs, her monthly bills, to save to start school or any medical expenses.
