870 Mile Hike For Enviro-Mental Health and Awareness
Don protégé
Hello, I'm Rob.
I'm hiking the length of the Welsh coast path over June and July, all 870 miles of it.. to raise awareness for how nature can help your noggin'.
No Back Up Team, No Big Sponsors . No Accommodation. It should take around 6-8 weeks with assents and descents totalling 2.5X THE HEIGHT OF EVEREST!
Just me, my backpack and a sense of adventure.. camping as I go. Showing how time in nature can reset the mind and reconnect us to what really matters. (while also being reminded of the little things as it hammers down rain)
In the UK alone, 1 in 4 people suffer from any number of mental health issues, with suicide being the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35! I think we all know someone who been affected by it.
Along side that, our planet is being pushed to its limit, with 8-13 million tones of plastic entering the ocean each year. In the UK we are ranked as one of the worst for coastal water quality in Europe due too the amount of toxins and sewage we pump into our rives and seas, water companies profiting from pollution.. not investing into the planet and paying out £60 Billion in dividends to shareholders in the last 30 years.
So, two birds one stone, all fund's I raise are being split down the middle. People and Planet.
50% Samaritans | A charity that's open 24/7 if your struggling and need someone to listen | The money raised goes toward the support line remaining open 24/7.
50% Suffers Against Sewage | A charity fighting against ocean pollution. | The money raised goes toward campaigning, education and a green future.
I truly believe we can cure our minds in nature, and then WE can return the favour.
I have had my own struggles mentally, I plan to share this story along the way. So feel free to follow my journey on social media

Should be a good laugh... (and not a times, mate)
Big Love, Rob.
