Pakistani Girls’ Education Foundation aims to provide girls in Kari, a small village in Jhelum, Pakistan with the tools needed to excel beyond their environment. Girls’ Government Degree College, upfunded by Raja Ahsan Raza, Chairman of Sanghoi, Jhelum, a neighboring village strategically located the College in the middle of fifty villages at walking distance for young women who usually would halt their education after high school due to a lack of transportation, and means to continue their schooling. With the establishment of Girls’ Government Degree College, young women and their families no longer have to worry about funding and transporting. We are grateful for the generosity of Ahsan Raza and those who have started this journey in the fight for womens’ education and empowerment. However, this is just the start.
Omar and Nibba Ahmed, brother and sister from a small town in Connecticut, USA along with the help and support of Omar’s classmates, Nicholas Aderhold, Sashank Venugopal, and Matthew Rostkowski, at Rocky Hill High School understood their privilege in the world. Being educated without the fear or worry of what the future holds is a great right that is taken for granted. Those in under-developed countries where young girls are held back holds an entire society back.
In 2018, the Ahmed family was able to get a first-hand account of what it is like for young women in these villages. After speaking with families and the girls themselves, Nibba and Omar felt it was their duty as Pakistani-Americans to give back and make sure that the young, brilliant and bright-minded women are given the education and the tools necessary to further their potential.
By starting Pakistani Girls’ Education Foundation, we hope to serve and best deliver the value of education. With the help of the Rocky Hill community, young women in Pakistan can bring a future for themselves, their families, and ultimately the world. For more info: visit http://pakistanigirlsedf.org/
