The Albert "BJ" Burney Scholarship main goal is to help provide resources for students who may not otherwise have the means to get basic needs for college or continuing education. 
Not only have we done this for the past 11 years, we have also challenged people who can and will help provide money for our community family who get behind on bills, need rental assistance, food etc. We had a back to school, back pack giveaway, a cook out August 2019 to help children of all ages get free haircuts and go back to school with the supplies they need to start the school year off right!
We have helped raise funds most recently during this tough time we are all facing as a nation due to Covid-19. 
Now were are petitioning help with the injustices that are taking place in out nation. So many desire to help and we want to partner with you. Your donations will help us, help you and young adults create the most needed change and impact during this most heartbreaking time we are facing as a nation. 

Albert Burney better known as "BJ" was a graduate of Hope High School, an amazing athlete, friend,son, brother & uncle. He was truly loved by many! He had a quiet but powerful presence about himself. He was a young man of few words. However, when he spoke it was funny and memorable. BJ's life was taken way too soon by a stray bullet on June 21,2003 at the Century lounge nite club in Providence. This bullet was not intened for BJ, he hardly went out unless it was to work at Dave & Busters, or school where he was attending CCRI,or just hanging with his friends. BJ was at the wrong place at the wrong time. We are honoring his memory by providing these scholarships and with your help we can impact lives of many youth in the community of Providence and or RI. We have criteria for Hope High applicants & other students will also revive back to school assistance. Ex. A family who cannot afford a college tour or visit for their child, books, clothing may apply. All we are looking to do is help in major capacities where families may fall short. And we believe with your help we can make this happen. The theme of the fundraiser is "United We Stand" 
we appreciate your help in advance. Any funds left over from the Scholarship will be used to help assist families in need during desparate times .
