As an Ob-Gyn, Dr. Alicia Saunders has helped so many women (and indirectly partners and families) with exceptional care and compassion in both happy and stressful times . Now is our turn to give back to her!
As a patient of Dr. Alicia Saunders, I recently learned of her battle with bone marrow cancer and cardiac amyloidosis. Not only does this disease bring with it unimaginable hardship, pain and suffering, but treatments including a harrowing stem cell transplant have brought their own challenges for Dr. Saunders' health. It has been extremely difficult for her and her family as she has tried unsuccessfully to reach remission, all while also managing the financial burden of her disease. I'm looking to support her at a time she needs us most and would love to show her that she can count on us!
Alicia has a special place in my heart. She delivered my daughter 5 years ago, and even though it was a very stressful event, she made me feel at ease and took incredible care of us. As a doctor, she is caring, attentive, thoughtful, and warm; one who never makes you feel rushed or deems your questions too silly. Through the power of social media, I've recently learned just how many women feel the same way I do, women that have their own stories and wonderful experiences under her care, which is no surprise.
Often we assume that someone in Dr. Saunders' profession would not face the same financial devastation a disease like this can bring, but that is far from reality. It is time for us to give back, and to support her as she has done for so many of us for so long. Let's spread the love and let her know how much we care. No contribution is too small, and she will receive all funds directly.
