In exactly 77 days, I’ll be running the Full Melbourne Marathon (42.2kms) and today marks the start of that journey. I’m doing this to honour the 77 men who lose their lives to suicide every 9 days in Australia.
The number 77 isn't just a statistic, its 77 sons, cousins, dads and mates, gone every week. It's a hard statistic too grasp, but it demonstrates how important it is too talk about mens mental health before you no longer can.
I've never completed a marathon before, I have finished a few half marathons but nothing like this. I'm ready to push myself because this cause matters to me. I want to demonstrate that even when things get difficult, we can keep going.
I want to help show that these tragedies are preventable. With the right support and open conversations, we can stop the silence before it is too late.
If you are able to support me by donating, sharing this message, or just following my progress, it would mean a lot. Your support will help honour those 77 lives and make a difference for the men still fighting their battles in silence.
77 for 77, every kilometre I run will be for a life that mattered, to cross the finish line for those who can't.
Every dollar raised will be donated to Its okay to not be okay mental health organisation
