She immediately went into shock, and would not put any weight on her back right leg. The vet was able to see her right away and take X-rays. At first she did not seem to think anything was broken however, she sent the X-rays to a radiologist to be sure. A few hours later, after many tears were shed by me, I got the call that the radiologist saw a fracture in her knee. She was referred immediately to a local specialist. The vets think that surgery is our best option considering the placement of the fracture and the age of Kona. (only 4.5 months) My ver warned that without it, amputation may need to happen later on.

Estimates for this surgery are around $4,000-$5,000 It will require pins and an additional surgery in a few months to remove the pins. The second surgery is around $2,000.
While I do have some savings set aside for pet emergencies, this amount is far out of my budget. We are so thankful for anyone willing to help us fund my baby girl's medical treatment for this freak accident.
