Purposefully Empowering And Reaching Little Sisters, Incorporated, was founded in 2011. The mentoring group educates female students in the fifth and sixth grades by giving them a positive outlook on life through adult female mentoring, lectures, workshops, physical activities, and practical application. The program has been developed to provide these individually selected females with an academic and social support network, encouraging them to become well rounded in their educational surroundings as well as their communities.
The P.E.A.R.L.S. is comprised of young ladies attending Judge S. Woods (Glenarden, MD) and Seat Pleasant Elementary Schools (Seat Pleasant, MD). Our emerging leadership program, the Petite P.E.A.R.L.S., mentors young ladies in the third and fourth grades. The ladies meet weekly after school to enrich their knowledge using our five targets: Health and Wellness, Self-Esteem, Character Building, Career Choices, and Etiquette.
Yearly, approximately 20 girls participate in each group; our goal is to raise $50.00 per young lady to help offset cost of providing a quality experience. Your donations will help the P.E.A.R.L.S. by contributing to funds for our field trips (ex. Alvin Ailey at the Kennedy Center) transportation cost, arts and crafts materials, snacks, custom shirts and wardrobe assistance, and fund-raising expenses.
