I'm very sad to update for all our friends and supporters that we were told today that my Mom cannot receive her much needed heart transplant and can no longer a candidate for one. She has been hospitalized for the past 3 weeks due to congestive heart failure and pneumonia. Her condition had worsened so much to the point that they moved her up on the national list to 1A level which is for those in most immediate need. They had to put her on a specific medication to try and eliminate the antibodies built up in her system as needed in order to have a new heart safely transplanted. Much to our dismay, this process did not do what her heart doctors hoped it would. The medication did not decrease the antibodies even slightly as they remained the same. We were told that this procedure not working together with her condition is extremely rare. Providing her with a new heart at this time would be VERY high risk and even dangerous. We are now left with very few options as an alternative that we as a family will be discussing with her team of doctors. None of which are the greatest of options. On behalf of my family and, more importantly my Mom, I'm hoping everyone will keep her in your prayers and continue to share her struggle. Thank you for your consideration, kindness and sharing.
