Help Halifax Know Choice

Over the past two weeks, Halifax has made a choice.
Halifax chose facts over disinformation.
Halifax chose to empower people to make their own decisions.
Halifax chose to be proactive instead of reactive.

Halifax chose to help the South House and the Halifax Sexual Health Centre advertise their services on Metro Transit and to validate that when it comes to your body, it's your choice.

Donations from our community, large and small, have helped us surpass our goal of $4000. We will still accept donations through the GoFundMe (http://www.gofundme.com/65csh0) and cheques. Any extra donations will go towards other campaign resources.
The ad will be released in the coming weeks and on public transit soon.

This may be a tremendous victory, but the fight for reproductive rights and justice continues. We encourage everyone to speak out and learn more. For more information and opportunities to be part of our movement visit southhousehalifax.ca and halifaxsexualhealth.ca

There's been lots of conversations about anti-choice ads placed in Halifax's Metro Transit buses and bus shelters.

The South House Sexual and Gender Resource Centre, in partnership with the Halifax Sexual Health Centre would like to offer an alternative to these messages, and help inform the community of the many pro-choice services available to them.

Even before the most recent ads, organizations that masquerade as health services have advertised on transit, seemingly hoping to target younger and more vulnerable women. These organizations are explicit about their intentions to dissuade people from having abortions on their websites but do not provide this information on their bus ads, nor do they properly disclaim their bias.

We won't stand for unscientific claims and confusing messaging any longer. We think choices surrounding pregnancy can be difficult enough to navigate without hidden agendas.

It's not okay to deliberately mislead and shame people.

South House Halifax and the Halifax Sexual Health Centre are proud to be two of several pro-choice organizations that provide resources, information and support 365 days a year, regardless of a person's choice. To learn more about South House Halifax, visit southhousehalifax.ca. To learn more about the Halifax Sexual Health Centre visit http://www.halifaxsexualhealth.ca/.

We need you to help us get that message out to the public.

We are eager to get good information out there and to support people who need our services. We especially want to offer an alternative and empowering message to transit users.

We have graphic designers donating time in-kind, so the only cost that remains is buying the ad space on Halifax Metro Transit busses.

You can help us get on the bus.

Your choice to donate even $12 will counter misinformation both in Halifax busses and help us take a stand with all people who are fighting anti-choice misinformation everywhere. Help us inform transit riders to of all the options that exist, and of organizations that support their right to choose, whatever that choice may be.

Signed,
South House Halifax, in partnership with the Halifax Sexual Health Centre
