Justin’s Open Heart Surgery

As most of you know from meeting or looking at the countless pictures and videos of Justin, we were blessed with a beautiful and happy baby boy whose smile can brighten even the darkest day. You would never know from spending time with him but Justin was diagnosed with a ventricular septal defect (VSD) two days after birth. Without getting too technical, he has a fairly large hole in the ventricular septal wall. This congenital heart defect has made it difficult for Justin to gain weight as the act of feeding is very demanding on his heart.

In order to fix the problem so that Justin can live a full and happy life with no restrictions he has to have open heart surgery to close the hole in his heart. Justin has handled the whole situation like a champ and while we are extremely worried about the surgery we trust the doctors and surgeons and know that our tough little man will come through unscathed with a healthy properly functioning heart.

We have never done anything like this before but the doctor and specialist appointments as well as the medications have really added up, not to mention the cost of the surgery. We would really appreciate your help, every little bit helps and if you’re unable to contribute please keep Justin in your thoughts and prayers. The surgery is scheduled on October 4th and we will keep everyone updated with his progress.
