This is for a dear friend who has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphnoma Cancer. He had been working abroad for the past few years, teaching English as a second language. Within a month of setting foot back in the US his diagnosis was relayed to him. He is in a place where he knows very few people, and there are no close friends nearby.
The timing of diagnosis and returning home has left my friend is unable to pursue getting a job to support himself while going through treatments. This has left him without money or a way to support himself. He has been making it day by day, at times living in homeless shelters, trying to figure out the public assistance programs for the first time in his life, and fighting for his life with a disease that he has seen take immediate family in the past.
My friend is to proud to ask for help, but I know that he is scared and doing everything he can to remain strong in this battle. Treatments have just began and are leaving him physically ill for days on end, and exhausted.
He has recently been able to move out of the homeless shelter he was in, and into a small shared space. He literally has no money at this time.
Steamboat Class of 1995, this is one of our own. He went to classes with us, graduated with us, partied and camped with us.
I cannot release his name, as I do no have his permission at this time and he has said that he "feels ashamed" to ask for help.
So I am asking on his behalf...and without his knowledge...
Will you help? This money will go directly to him to help him pay for the daily neccessities of food, clothing, bus passes, hygenic items, housing, etc.
