Study Abroad in Tokyo Japan
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Alek Lucero. I am a 22-year-old first-generation, full-time college student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. I’m on track to graduate in December 2018, with a bachelor degree in civil engineering - as long as I meet the study abroad requirement for this degree. I have chosen to travel to Tokyo, Japan and take two, 3-unit courses in environmental engineering and engineering ethics.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to be an engineer. As a kid, I was constantly building things out of Legos, cardboard, Erector Sets, wood scraps – anything I could get my hands on. At 7 years old, I designed and built a small BMX track in my backyard that was used by all of the neighborhood kids for a couple of years…until my parents decided it was time to put a lawn in. My dream is to use my degree in civil engineering to pursue a professional engineering license and design structural plans for commercial buildings.
The cost for this Texas Tech University Engineering program in Tokyo is $4,175, plus the airline ticket which is $2,493. The burden of this cost is on me and my parents, despite applying for all applicable scholarships and grants.
Please donate and share to help me accomplish this dream! I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.
Here is a link to the program that I will be in.
