Be the hands and feet of Jesus!
We will be the first to tell you that we often think this platform is overused, but we hope we do a decent job conveying to you that this is not the case here. We have some extremely special people in our lives that we want to bless. Let me describe them a little...
Other than my Papaw Sewell, I have never in my life met someone (2 people) who so closely mimicked Jesus and everything He desired us to be. They are obedient to His will in every single aspect of their lives and pursue that relationship at the start of their day, everyday. We joke around sometimes and say "it's kind of annoying how good they are, they always do the right thing." Personally, they have devoted countless hours and days to helping us through the chaos of raising 2 kiddos. We see them daily, and no matter how rough their day was, how many hours they have spent with us and the kids or working, they always always offer
more and ask for nothing in return. I have said many times, "I just don't know how they do it." They have the patience and love of Jesus. No exaggeration.
The woman I talk about is retired. She currently does a program where she teaches kids overseas via the internet and also substitute teaches in order to make ends meet. On our vacation last month, she was up at 3:30 am to teach her kids and stayed up all day doing vacation stuff until we all went to bed that night. Her mood never wavered. I'm always so in awe over that. She has one mood, and that is gracious, happy, positive and helpful. Her typical day is teaching her kids in the morning beginning at 5 am at home, often substitute teaches during the day, teaches her kids again at night, then repeat the next day. She works harder than most people I know without the complaints. She got sick after vacation, so we told her she needed to slow down but she said, "its hard to turn down the money when you need it."
The man I'm referring to is also retired. He has a small photography business that he really enjoys. We watch him do sessions (sometimes weddings) for free for special people in his life. He sacrifices an outrageous amount of his free time to help watch the kids while we're working. He is over here at 5:30am when I leave for work and often has both kids by himself for the entire day until late evening. This is a tiring task for even young mamas! Amen?! He will straighten up the house, cook, help do laundry, help with any projects we may be doing, fix everything thats broken and so much more. He literally does it all.
With everything these people do for us, we want to help them in return in any way possible. These people are behind on bills, have 3 different vehicles with over 250,000 miles on them and all 3 are broke down right now. (These are the same people that still tithe 10% every Sunday). They often are out and about and their vehicle won't start. They never ask for handouts and even though they are struggling, you would never know it. They ask what we and the kids want for Christmas as if they have plenty to give. I constantly hear her say, "God always provides," and that kind of solid, steady faith is mind-blowing to me.
We wish we could give them enough on our own, but we pray that you consider helping us help them during this holiday season. Our dream would be to be able to give them enough to get a reliable, used vehicle but every single penny we appreciate from the bottom of our hearts and we know they will too. Pray about it, and if God places it on your heart please know we thank you immensely and love each and every one of you!
