Two years ago we brought a 10 lb. one year old abandoned little boy from Haiti into our hearts and home. He was in the US for medical care and we were led to step in and become his host family. Bryon had suffered a brain injury from shaken baby syndrome and now has cerebral palsy and cortical vision impairment. He also had multiple congenital birth defects. He has endured 11 life-saving and orthopedic surgeries while with us. We fell in love and knew he deserved a family to love him. We began the adoption process. After 18+ months of no progress, we learned that it was necessary for us to find a new agency and begin again. Sadly, we have lost almost $20,000 in previously paid "fees." (none of this includes the many thousands we have spent for Bryon's medical care during the two years he has lived with us.)
