Legal help for Lucero

We are trying to help a young girl, seeking legal asylum with her family after gunmen invaded their home and threatened the lives of all the children and the parents. A police report was filed, but the family then fled as if from a burning building with only what they had on their backs. Seven of the nine in the family were admitted to the US on acceptance of Credible Fear. Lucero, 18, and her brother,17, were separated from the family and detained--Lucera at Eloy which is one of the worst in the country, more deaths there than in any other, and Pablo in Aurora near Denver. My friend Diane McPhail spent time with this family in the Nogales shelter while they were waiting for legal entry. This family is exemplary, their fear authentic. Lucero is kind, intelligent, gentle, and caring of others around her. She is now terrified and alone. She needs a lawyer desperately. There are less than a handful of pro bono lawyers, who are overwhelmed in trying to serve approximately 1500 detained. Of that 1500, she is one of only about 100 women. Her next hearing is September 11 and we need the funds to hire a lawyer for her URGENTLY and IMMEDIATELY if she is to have a chance to be reuinted with her family. All donations will be appreciated and will go directly to help secure a lawyer to argue for her freedom and reunification with her family in Oregon.
