Cancer sucks
Hello to my friends and followers.
I am doing this to help a dear friend and his wife.
The picture above is my dear friends Andreas and his beautiful wife
Flavia. I spend 5 days a week hanging out with Andreas where him and I both work making happy tourists happier. He is a waiter and I am the
bartender for the day shift at Cabo Cantina. Over the past year
Andreas has become a true friend. We work well together as a team.
I help him add sales to his bills and he does the same. We banter like
brothers with our customers and we play off each other very well. We make laughter through out the day and you would think we have been
friends our entire life.
Recently his wife had a lump removed from her breast and off it went
to the lab. We all waited quietly for the results and sadly, they were not what we all had hoped for. She indeed has breast cancer. So this past
week, she had her left breast removed and will be starting chemo
in a few weeks once she recovers from the mastectomy. This all had to be done in Mexico City since thats where some of the specialists they
needed were located.
Im sure most of you are aware that this is low season here in Cabo.
Its also been a not very good low season and there just isnt very
many tourists the last couple months. So not much time for them to
save up for expenses on top of medical bills that are skyrocketing as
can imagine.
The average waiter makes a daily wage plus tips. Just in case you arent
aware of what the daily wage is, its about $5.00 USD per day. So the
tips are really what the income is. And as you can imagine, low season
means not much for tips since its, well, low season. This means they are very low on resources, finances, and aid is running low or out. The
surgery was $60,000.00 pesos or about $6,500.00 USD. And they still have a long road ahead. Not able to work during all this, not much
saved so here we are.
I am asking for all my friends, clients, mutual friends and anyone else
that may see this campaign to donate what ever amount they possibly
can. These people are staples in my daily life here. When I was sick a
few months ago, they showed up to my house, with food and the offer
to do what ever I might need to help me get better. We break bread
together, we laugh and cry together and we share the same sky
together and they need help. I have set the amount low and would love to see it hit the mark so fast that I can increase it.
Please donate, share, like, repost, comment, anything to help these
two beautiful people stay afloat while they do this.
Thank you
Justin Blok
