Help Rob Syverson Fight Amyloidosis

2^nd Lieutenant Rob Syverson of the Bellerose Fire Department is one of the greatest people you will ever come across in your life. His presence around the fire house is one that will light up the room and put smiles on the faces of everyone in it. He is always willing to give his time for others in any way he can. Rob is a caring and loving father, and husband and friend. You can count on Rob to be the first one to lend you a hand with anything you may need help with. Rob was registered as a bone marrow donor and two years ago he donated his bone marrow to help a perfect stranger in need. This is exactly the kind of selfless example that makes Rob a stand up guy. If you were stuck in a foxhole it would be crazy not to want him right there with you.

Last summer Rob was responding to a fire call and noticed that he was a little bit out of breath. This was very unusual because Rob exercised regularly and was in great shape. After making many trips to the doctors and many tests, Rob was diagnosed with Primary (AL) Amyloidosis. This disease causes his antibody-producing cells to not function properly and produce abnormal protein fibers that can damage his body's organs. His heart is suffering severely from these proteins. He has been undergoing chemotherapy and has been in good spirits. Rob has been visiting Boston in the past few weeks seeing the best doctors capable of battling this disease. He is going to undergo some costly treatments in the next 6 months in Boston. There are a lot of expenses that will be a burden to Rob and his family during the course of this treatment.


The Guys and I at the Firehouse would like to raise money for Rob and show our support to him and his family. We have set a high goal but any little bit you can donate will be appreciated!
