Ali, her husband Dustin, and their two boys, have spent the last several weeks hearing the news that no one wants to hear. Ali has been diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer.
They have already made several trips to St. Louis to see specialists, and even made a trip down to Texas to get a second opinion. With these trips comes the expenses that accompany travel, such as flights, lodging, food, and the added cost of missed work. During these travels they also learned that what was initially going to be 5-6 weeks of treatment will now, more than likely be 6 months of treatment.
In the upcoming months, there will be at least 2 more trips to Texas for further testing. Between the out of pocket copays and deductibles, the travel expenses, and the missed work, this situation has quickly created a substantial financial burden.
