Please help us keep our home!

 
This is a photo of my home which we call Peacefield. I live here with my wonderful son David and my grandchild Jazmine!

Upon my separation from my ex husband over 12 years ago, we made an agreement regarding settling marital debt which would allow me to maintain my house . Last fall he broke our agreement and has since been pushing for the sale of the house! I have struggled this year attempting to work with him. I have also been working to refinance the house to pay him off and secure a new mortgage. I have been able to be approved for a loan, but I am not able to pull enough money out to pay every thing off.

I am $80k short. I’m reaching out desperately for support from my community and friends. Please help as much as you can! I’m horrified that, should we be forced to sell, I might not not be able to continue living in Oakland. Rentals are through the roof and buying a new home without perfect credit, or a large down payment, is beyond difficult.

My work and my life are in Oakland. My family has already invested $1000s of dollars into the upkeep and care of this sweet home - I love this place with all my heart. Having to relocate while still having to pay my mortgage until my home is sold will destroy me financially!

I am a doula , childbirth educator and counselor and coach . I’m the founder and director of Oakland Better Birth Foundation. All of my work is offered to the community on a deep sliding scale and I turn no one away due to financial hardship - so the financial stress of this situation has been beyond painful .
