Dear Friends,
My name is Xitlalitl Prudencio-Castillo. I am 20 years old and an undergraduate at the University of La Verne, seeking a degree in psychology. My parents, my little sister and I live in West Los Angeles near Crenshaw. This summer, I am working as a Young Religious Leaders fellow with Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE), because I have a passion to fight for justice for all human beings and to make our world a better place.
Recently, my mother and father were in a horrible car accident. They stayed in the emergency room for three days. My father suffered a debilitating head wound, and my mother is now unable to walk. She is receiving physical therapy and needs constant help.
It is so painful to see the people I love most in the world suffering. I worry about how my sister is taking this. Neither of my parents can work right now, and we are not sure how we will be able to make the rent. I’ve been forced to become the head of the family and their primary caregiver.
This accident has changed our lives forever, but I thank God that my parents are still alive. CLUE staff and fellows have been helping by providing meals for all of us. But we are still in deep financial stress. Will you consider helping me raise $3,000 for our living and medical expenses?
