Support Claudia: Lung Transplant Journey

We recently received the incredible news that my mom has officially been accepted onto the lung transplant list a life-changing and long-awaited moment for our family. Her surgery will be taking place in California, which means we’ll need to temporarily relocate there for the next 3 to 4 months.

Due to the seriousness of this procedure and the recovery that follows, it’s required that 1–2 companions stay with her full-time for at least three months. This means many of our family members will be missing work to provide the care and support she needs. I’ll be taking time off work, and my father, Ruben who is the primary provider for our family will also have to miss significant time from work to be by her side.

As you can imagine, expenses are quickly starting to add up from travel and temporary housing to medical-related costs and the loss of income. We’re reaching out with open hearts to ask for any financial support you’re able to offer during this time. We truly understand that not everyone is in a place to give, but please know that anything helps and is deeply appreciated.

Recientemente recibimos la increíble noticia de que mi mamá fue aceptada oficialmente en la lista de trasplante de pulmón un momento que cambia nuestras vidas y que hemos estado esperando con mucha esperanza.

Su cirugía se llevará a cabo en California, lo que significa que tendremos que mudarnos temporalmente allá por los próximos 3 a 4 meses.

Debido a la gravedad de la cirugía y el proceso de recuperación, es un requisito que 1 o 2 acompañantes estén con ella a tiempo completo durante al menos tres meses. Esto implica que varios miembros de nuestra familia tendrán que ausentarse del

trabajo para poder cuidarla. Yo estaré faltando mucho al trabajo, y mi papá, Rubén quien es el principal proveedor de nuestra familia también tendrá que dejar de trabajar por un tiempo significativo para poder estar con ella.

Como se pueden imaginar, los gastos están empezando a acumularse rápidamente desde el viaje y la vivienda temporal, hasta los costos médicos y la pérdida de ingresos. Por eso, con mucha humildad, les pedimos cualquier ayuda económica que puedan brindarnos en este momento. Sabemos que no todos están en posición de donar, pero cualquier aporte, por pequeño que sea, nos ayuda muchísimo y lo agradecemos.

Desde lo más profundo de nuestro corazón, gracias por todo el amor, las oraciones y el apoyo que han mostrado hacia nuestra familia durante este proceso. Significa más de lo que podemos expresar con palabras.
