Discipleship Training School

My name is Autumn Pollard and I have decided to complete a term at a missionary training school with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Salem, Oregon. God has placed the school on my heart after praying and asking God about my purpose, what He wanted from me, and what He designed me to do in order to bring glory to His name. I have a love and passion for serving God's people and I have been commanded to love everybody. I have let the Lord know that I am willing and ready to go wherever He wants to take me. God has done so much for me and has transformed my heart and life in so many ways and I know this is just the beginning. When I first heard about Youth With A Mission, I did some research on the school and spoke to several different staff members to learn that YWAM is a worldwide ministry program that has been around since 1960 (the Salem, Oregon location was established in 1978) and is a program that is apart of University of the Nations. All the staff members are incredibly supportive and want what's best for anybody's walk with God, whether they decide to take part in the school or not. This 6 month term is broken down into 2 sections: the Lecture phase, and the Outreach phase. During the Lecture phase, I will be staying on campus in Salem for 12 weeks, uncovering 12 books of the New Testament and also hearing testimonies and gathering spiritual guidance from various kinds of people including doctors, graduates, and other staff members. In addition, there are also lecture topics including: Hearing the Voice of God, Biblical Overview, Father Heart of God, Holy Spirit, Repentance/forgiveness, Spiritual Warfare, Evangelism, Worldview, Relationships, Identity/destiny, and Lordship. During the Outreach phase I will be leaving the country to live as a missionary for 10 weeks in another country. During the first week of the training school, I am offered a list of countries that are available for outreach during my term and I get to decide (after seeking God's desire) which country I am being lead to and which country I will serve. A trained long-term mission staff member will be going with me, along with any other students who felt lead to the same country also and that will be my team during those 10 weeks. This school, I believe, is the next season in my faith and I can't wait to experience all God has for me in this opportunity. I am grateful for any donation, no matter how small or large, to help me along the way. I am eager to meet the people set along my path and to learn more about our God on this journey. I was especially interested in this program when I asked what topics were covered during the Lecture phase because, although I am very passionate about mission work and reaching people who have fallen off with God or who haven't met Him yet, I wanted to know more about the Heart of Christ, and what gifts He has given each of us. I am open for anything the Lord wants to reveal to me and thankful for anyone who helps get me there. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. The amount I need to complete my discipleship training is high because this is not a short-term mission. The expenses are broken down: $3,000 covers the lecture phase; food expenses, room and board, and any transportation costs. $2,000 covers the outreach phase: food, housing, and again transportation. The last $1,000- will cover any air-fare expenses, to-and-from the other country.
