Help Me Walk Again -My Fight Against a Bone Tumor
Donativo protegido
Hi, my name is Josua. I’m an artist and designer from Panama, and for the past few years, I’ve poured my heart into building my fashion brand, @xamanofficial. It hasn’t been easy, but I was proud to see my work recognized when I won an award as Emerging Designer of the Year. I thought it was just the beginning of my dreams coming true.
But only a month after that incredible moment, my life changed in ways I never imagined. I started waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, shivering from pain in my left leg. At first, I didn’t understand what was happening, but as the weeks passed, walking became harder, and my leg began to lose strength. It took six months, countless doctor visits, and every last bit of my savings before I finally got the diagnosis: a Giant Cell Tumor—an aggressive, rare tumor growing inside my bone.
By the time doctors found it, the tumor had already weakened my bone so much that without surgery, I risk losing my leg.
Thanks to the kindness of friends and family, I was able to afford the first stage of treatment—a medication that helped strengthen my bone and reduce the pain. But now comes the hardest part: I need urgent surgery to remove the tumor and replace my bone.
I have found a matching bone in a U.S. bone bank, but time is running out. If I don’t secure it soon, it may go to another patient who can pay for it first. The total cost is $89,000—far beyond what I or my family can afford.
I never imagined I’d be in this position, asking for help just to stand on my own two feet again. But I believe in the kindness of people, in the power of community, and in the idea that no one should face something like this alone.
That’s why I’m launching a special collection of t-shirts for donors—designed with love and filled with positive and funny mantras to remind us all to live our best lives. Every purchase, every donation, every share brings me one step closer to healing.
I want to walk again. I want to keep creating, designing, and sharing my art with the world. If you can help in any way—by donating, buying a t-shirt, or simply sharing my story—it would mean everything to me.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of my journey.
With gratitude,
Josua
