Nugget's Life-Saving Surgery

Hello! My name is Grace and my cat’s name is Nugget. He’s the reason you’re here and I hope you’re able to help.

Nugget has been relatively healthy his whole life, a sweet precious blonde guy that greets everyone and doesn’t know a stranger. Recently, just a few days ago, Nugget refused his breakfast and was acting as if he was in pain. This was extremely alarming to us as Nugget does not miss a meal.

He was taken to the vet and checked in, which unfortunately was the diagnosis of a complete urinary blockage. His body is creating crystals that disallow him to urinate which ultimately can result in death. While there was no infection and we brought him in before he got sick, thankfully, but he is unfortunately not out of the woods.

I received the heartbreaking call from the vet saying Nugget will need surgery. When they removed his catheter after IV fluids, his body blocked up and he is back at square one. He now requires what’s considered a “sex change” operation which will completely eradicate his issue and he can live comfortably.

Our concern is the surgery itself is nearly touching $5,000. His initial hospital stay was $2400+ and my partner and I are both low credit and with few resources and completely out of options.

My heart is broken. My boy is only 7 years old and facing this huge issue, and I am just not ready to let go. I don’t know if I can.
