We found four French bulldogs in less than 2 days. Dumped like trash and left for dead in the streets

Help us turn their tragedy into triumph by funding The Lovejoy Foundation, the rescue that opened their arms, hearts, and doors, to not only these babies, but thousands more.

When we found ourselves with four dumped, abandoned, and terrified French bulldogs in the span of 36 hours, we were beside ourselves and didn’t know what to do. But we knew they needed help and we knew we had one lifeline… The Lovejoy Foundation in Inglewood, California. ❤️‍

Erin Lovejoy is one of the most extraordinary human beings ever to grace this planet. She has dedicated her entire life to helping as many animals as she possibly can. No breaks. No vacations. No accolades or riches. Just the reward of living in her purpose. Honestly, I don’t even know if she sleeps... But when she heard what had happened, even though she was already full and overwhelmed, and JUST had five German shepherds caged and abandoned on her property, she didn’t hesitate - “bring them all to me in the morning. We will figure it out together.” I fell apart. Then we got to work building a makeshift shelter in the garage to house them until the morning.

 Here’s the story -

Frenchie #1 - Bruno was found in the middle of a busy street in Hawthorne. He was making no attempt to avoid traffic. He was starving, emaciated, and exhausted. He had all but given up and he just stood there. Skin and bones in the street with cars swerving around him and the sun beating down on him. No one was even stopping. We opened the car door and he got in willingly and laid down. No resistance. No fear even. Just a tired boy who needed help. Both ears infected. Full of fleas. Missing patches of fur. But he still had a little life in him. He was hungry. And he wanted to be held. We held him tight and he breathed out. We gave him food and water. He was safe.

In the next 36 hours, Bruno would become the ambassador for the Frenchie rescue mission that we never saw coming.

Frenchies #2 & #3 - Bella and Bear were found the next night after being pushed into the street from a moving pickup truck. Despite the horrors they had endured, they were chasing the truck that dumped them, trying to hold on to the only life they knew. They weren’t fast enough but it didn’t matter anyway. They never had a chance. They were thrown away like trash, instead of being loved and cherished as beautiful little souls with fragile hearts and emotions. They froze in fear and allowed us to just pick them up. They smelled like they had been living in urine and feces. The smell was overwhelming. A smell you never forget. Bear was missing fur along an entire side of his body and had feces stuck into the fur he had left. They were terrified but compliant. They never growled or barked or showed any aggression. Just 2 more scared babies who needed help. We brought them home.

That night we built a makeshift rescue in our garage to kennel the dogs until we could get them to The Lovejoy Foundation the next morning. Bruno had a panic attack in the kennel. He couldn’t do it. He had to be close to us, so he ended up sleeping in one of our beds ❤️‍ But Bella and Bear were different. It was clear they were used to being caged. They went into the kennels willingly but Bear stayed up and paced and watched over Bella all night (we had a camera on them).

What we didn’t know at the time was that there was a 3rd Frenchie who had been dumped with them but they had been separated… we would find her too ❤️‍

Frenchie #4 - Baby The next morning as we were getting ready to load the dogs and take them to rescue, we went on the Next Door app and our jaws dropped. There she was… Baby had been found just a few blocks from Bella and Bear. They either dumped her separately or she ran a different direction but it was clear… she was younger and the perfect mix of Bella and Bear. She had to be their daughter. Within the Next Door post, the finder talked about how badly she smelled. We knew the smell. We knew she belonged with Bella and Bear. We showed Erin the post and there was no hesitation “Go get her. Let’s put the family back together.” So we did. All four are now safe in rescue, receiving veterinary care, love, and food. They’re scared but they’re safe and this is the beginning of their happy ending. I shudder to think what could have become of them…

We don’t just want to “fundraise” for The Lovejoy Foundation. We want to change their finances. Erin Lovejoy is doing the work of 1,000 angels on earth. Please help us support this rescue so they can not only continue the critical work they’ve been doing for years, but expand their reach and their capacity. This foundation needs HELP. There are never enough resources or manpower to fill the need but together we can put a dent in it! These babies came into our lives for a reason. Help us help them change the world ❤️‍

Thank you for taking the time to read our story! We will be sharing this story and updates on social media and will update here so stay tuned!
