Abby’s Funeral Expenses ♥

Hi there,

I am putting together this fundraiser to help alleviate the financial burden of funeral costs for my family. Last summer I was diagnosed with a bone infection that developed from some severe pressure wounds. I was told I would eventually lose my life to this infection due to having no treatment options. My infectious disease doctor monitored the infection, which stayed stable for quite awhile. Several weeks ago a CT revealed that I had shattered my femur, which required surgery. In that surgery they found that my femur and other surrounding tissue was necrotic (dead). Scans also revealed my bone infection had spread. I did a course of long term IV antibiotics with no success or improvement. I was admitted to the hospital again for the infection on April 16th. New scans showed that the infection has taken over my pelvis and pelvic bones. The infection has become too great to treat with antibiotics and surgical treatments are a temporary fix that could potentially make things worse. On Monday (4/22) I will be discharged from the hospital and hospice will be coming into the home. Nobody can give a definite “timeline”, but the doctors are estimating weeks or maybe a month.

Living as a quadriplegic the past 14 years has been hard, but I’m extremely blessed and grateful to have had a second chance at life. My family and I will be forever grateful for the unwavering support we have received these past several years. Any donations are very appreciated, but sharing this fundraiser and prayers are just as appreciated.
