Buddy wants to live!

My buddy boy found himself under the tires of a truck yesterday morning. Both back feet are broken. One is worse than the other as he disconnected his fourth toe completely, taking with it all the tendons, ligaments, tissue etc. Initially they said he would have to lose that leg. After X-rays, miraculously, his second and third toes do not appear to be broken! If so, this will save his leg. His other foot has a mild break as well.

Buddy is the happiest, best spirited dog. He loves his ranch life and he has become my best friend. I grew up being taught you do not spend money fixing dogs! Period. Especially when you have just been laid off and are unemployed :( I always subscribed to this belief, however, yesterday at the hospital holding Bud's precious face in my lap and him looking up into my eyes, smiling at me as usual, I found myself saying we have to try and save him.


He's going into surgery this morning. I will know exactly what we are facing in a few hours.
