Don protégé
On Monday the 10th of August 2020, Cecilia Cannavo was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm and endured a severe stroke shortly after. She has been in the care of Tower Health – Reading Hospital since that day as an inpatient.
Her story is like so many others who live on their own and do not have family living close by. On the Wednesday prior to her stroke she began to feel a strong headache. We were suspicious of COVID-19 since she had recently gone to the grocery store and thought she may have been infected. Her symptoms were very similar to that of the virus in fatigue, confusion and what seemed to be the beginning of a sinus infection. Ceil is a Warrior and did not want any sort of medical attention. She was determined to fight this one out and swore she would be back on her feet in time to sing Happy Birthday to her grandson. Fast forward to Monday the 10th and things had taken a turn for the worse. Ceil was no longer responding to text messages or phone calls. As a precaution, a loving family member made the decision to call the Upper Uwchlan police department and dispatch the Officers for a Wellness Visit. The Officers found Ceil sitting on the couch and extremely disoriented. She was rushed to one emergency room and then air lifted to the Trauma Center at West Reading Hospital.
Cecilia is a retired Army veteran. She does not have an adequate insurance plan to cover the expenses for the treatment & long-term care that is required for her most basic needs. We kindly request you to please help us in any way possible. All donations are sincerely appreciated.
Ceil loves you all. She is good at heart, full of love, care, and compassion for everyone. She has shown us all in her own way. Her boys, grandson and our family are heartbroken with incredible grief. Your prayers and well wishes are much appreciated.
